With over 300 girls and 100 educators in attendance, the MAGIT (Massachusetts Girls in Trades) can add another very successful conference to their growing list. As usual, many signatory contractors were there to share information about career opportunities.
Additionally, the girls had access to the traditional career fair booths and workshops. One popular workshop led by NERCC SIB members was “How to Become a Tradeswoman.”
Notable speakers for this event included: Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Massachusetts Secretary of Labor Rosalin Acosta, and Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno.
The goal was to encourage more girls to become Union apprentices after graduating from their trade school. The feedback, interest, and excitement suggest this goal was achieved.
