A quilt raffle was how they did it! Sisters asked STLKCRCC Locals to donate their unique t-shirts for this fund-raising event. Every Local with t-shirts happily did so, and the quilt assembly began: cutting t-shirts, applying interface, sewing sashing, attaching poly and backing, quilting, bounding. The work was a labor of love for a worthy cause – the Carpenter’s Scholarship Fund.
The $10,409.44 came from Locals buying raffle tickets to win the quilt. Most Locals bought a “block of tickets” and the winner was drawn at the November Council meeting. Local 97 won the quilt!
However the quilt didn’t disappear, it is now hanging in the Council’s main office for all to see! Check out the finished product.
