Recently, Sisters helped with a unique project – showing middle and high school students how to build a 12-foot row boat! Held at the Southeast Wisconsin Carpentry Training Center in Pewaukee, the project was a week-long summer builders camp called “Building2Learn.”
During the week, students worked side-by-side with industry professionals learning skills, patience, and teamwork. As they transformed stacks of wood into something seaworthy, the students marveled at their newfound capabilities and professed an interest in carpentry work. Several expressed their desire to “be a carpenter” when they were interviewed by the local Fox6 News Station.
Additionally, the female students took a break during the building process to pose with SIB members. They are pictured with LaSonya Donald, Clair Sprenger, and Barb Pecks.
