Each year, only three women receive the Alberta Council of Turnaround Industry Maintenance Stakeholders (ACTIMS) award; and this year Carpenter Rachelle Premack, from Local 1598, was one of them.
The award was created to bring awareness of employment opportunities for women in the skilled trades. Candidates must have demonstrated integrity, excellence, and leadership within the maintenance/construction trades industry.
A second-year apprentice, Rachelle excelled in these areas – competing against women in Building Trades Unions throughout Canada. She received a $1,500 bursary, as well as praise from her fellow members and leadership. Rachelle is pictured here holding her award and posing with the other recipients.
