Outreach by Sisters Pays off with Hiring Goals

After months of phone calls, group meetings, and one-on-one discussions, Sisters in the Western Massachusetts committee have been rewarded. The contractor handling construction at an area college has voluntarily agreed to hiring goals for women and people of color. They even have a woman Steward on the job site.

Lisa Clauson, SIB Chair, has been relentless in her efforts to make this happen. And she continues to engage with students as well as faculty around the work.

As for marketing, the Council created the attached brochure describing their outreach and the contractor is producing a video to highlight their efforts.

With the support of their Council and this first achievement, the Sisters plan to pursue opportunities at other colleges
