Tammy Rivera, Council representative and SIB chair, recently received a full-page feature in Construction Dive, a newsletter that covers commercial and residential construction. She was one of five women interviewed to commemorate Women in Construction Week, March 5 – 11, 2018.
Titled, An advocate for construction and women in the field, the article described Tammy’s many accomplishments during her 24-year career as a Carpenter. She rose from apprentice to Council representative, occupying many critical positions along the way.
Throughout the article, Tammy describes her pride in construction work and emphasizes the benefits of working Union versus Non-Union. She also praises her colleagues and stresses the important role of women.
On the political and legislative front, Tammy explains her efforts to promote better wages and benefits for all workers. She frequently visits Non-Union construction sites and interacts with contractors, community boards, as well as elected officials.
