On August 11, 2018, approximately 10 Sisters helped refurbish the Peter J. McGuire Memorial in Pennsauken, New Jersey. SIB chair Susan Schultz and Council Representative Layla Bibi volunteered; as did Sisters from Locals 158, 167, 253, 254, and 255.
The refurbishment included power-washing and hand-washing the memorial as well as the statue. Sisters also planted flowers and arranged flowerpots for Labor Day. These pictures show them giving the utmost care and attention to the memorial of one of the great labor leaders of the 19th century – Peter J. McGuire helped found the UBC and served as the first General Secretary.
