On September 17, 2018, 12 women started the New Jersey pre-apprentice program (green hard hats). They represent the eleventh class of women who have gone through a several-step process to get to this point.
The process started on January 29, 2018, when they were among the 26 women that attended an Information Session to learn more about the program. While there, the women received detailed information about the training and evaluation activities. They also heard from SIB Program Coordinator Susan Schultz (standing in burgundy sweater) and SIB Graduate Fredamalinda Hall (standing in black t-shirt).
At the conclusion of the Information Session, 23 women submitted applications, 22 were offered interviews, and 16 attended tryouts. The result – these 12 women successfully moved through the entire process and are excited about the chance to pursue a Carpentry career. Stay tuned for success stories!
