New England Sisters Play Key Roles at Girls in Trades Event

On March 30, 2016, Sisters from the New England Regional Council played a key role in the first Massachusetts Girls in Trades event. Over 400 high school girls attended, with 6 schools being turned away due to lack of space!

Amenyonah Bossman from Local 33 was the keynote speaker. Three other Sisters distributed materials and shared insights about working as a carpenter; Amelia Phinney from Local 424, Cheryl Lieteau from Local 218, and Shamaiah Turner from Local 17. Additionally, Sisters led workshops for girls as well as for school guidance counselors and teachers. By all accounts, the event was hugely successful. The girls learned a lot and left with valuable information about how to pursue a career in the Trades.
