Heeding the call for help, members of the New England Regional Council joined forces with the Heart 911 organization on a trip to Orocovis, Puerto Rico. They were charged with providing skills training to a group of apprentices. Classes in first-aid and construction safety were also taught.
Connecticut SIB chair Ana Cardona (standing in front of car) was one of the members who helped with the training. Ana also talked with the apprentices about issues like the gender wage-gap and diversity. Additionally, she discussed the different challenges they might encounter in the construction trades and how to deal with them.
As these pictures show, the members and apprentices gained a lot from the experience. CLICK HERE to learn more about the Heart 911 organization
