Jobsite Women’s Appreciation Lunches – that’s how New England Regional Council (NERCC) general contractors are hoping to retain women. Responding positively to this initiative, on March 21, 2018, 100 women (check out the photos) attended a lunch hosted by Wynn Boston Harbor and NERCC signatory CM Suffolk Construction.

These women are part of a $1.2 billion-dollar Encore Boston Harbor project, and the general contractors are working closely with the Council to meet workforce hiring goals. So far, 300 women have worked on the project, with 124 (6.8% of workers), onsite as of July 16, 2018.

Everyone hopes these steps will have a positive impact on retention. This turnout shows the women are certainly willing to do their part!
