An acknowledgement of the Sisters’ initiatives to increase diversity within Apprenticeship was the driving force behind a Massachusetts State Proclamation. Presented by MA Secretary of Labor Rosalyn Acosta, the recognition came on November 13, 2019, which was the celebration period for National Apprenticeship Week and National Women in Apprenticeship Day.
Held in Worcester, MA, the event was hosted by the MA Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. Sisters were invited to speak about the importance of increasing diversity within Apprenticeship. One speaker was Brandie Rankin, second-year Apprentice in Local 327. She spoke movingly to the 200 attendees, sharing how becoming a Carpenter had changed her life. Brandie is pictured with Council Representative Liz Skidmore receiving the award from Secretary Acosta.
