June 2008 is a date Brenda Bissonnette remembers well. That’s because this June will mark 10 years of being in the floorcovering industry. Brenda entered through a family connection – her husband worked as a floor layer.

There was plenty of floorcovering work and Brenda knew she could do it. “I really enjoy working with my hands, and I really enjoy the work,” says Brenda. So, she decided to take the leap, leaving her job as a silk screen printer to do floorcovering full-time.

Since moving into the field, Brenda has become INSTALL certified, which has contributed to her ongoing success. “I have travelled all over Vancouver,” says Brenda. “I also really like working with a different crew once a job is done,” she adds.

As for the family connection that got her started in floorcovering, the trend continues. Brenda does a lot of work with her husband, and her son and sister have both joined the industry. Bottom line, she enjoys the work and is glad that she took that leap 10 years ago.
