Sisters see Ontario’s first Community Benefits Agreement as an important step toward increased participation of women in certain trades jobs. The Agreement is a legally binding document that seeks to increase the participation of “equity-seeking groups” in trades where they are not represented. It does this by focusing on how communities benefit from projects within their communities.
This first Agreement is with Eglinton Light Rail Transit (LRT). During the next four years, positions will be designated specifically for equity-seeking groups, including women. These pictures show two members that are already working as a result of this Agreement.
